Anne Stewart was born in Ohio and graduated from high school there. She attended Mary Washington College of the University of Virginia, Ohio State University and the University of Minnesota, Morris. She has a BA degree in literature and history.
Anne has worked at jobs as varied as clerical and modeling to teaching and program development. For ten years she coordinated and developed a variety of noncredit classes, workshops and conferences for a university continuing education program, which ranged from a summer program for creative high school students to a program to help rural woman start new businesses. She particularly focused on environmental related programs and women's programs. Part of her tasks included writing news releases, brochures, handbooks, and grants.
She moved to her home near Ely, Minnesota in 1992.
